If you have decided to start making survival preparations, the first steps is to take stock of where you stand now. Survival preparations must be tailor made to your situation, age, income, location, lifestyle and so on. |
Where you are now - Point A. Where is the endpoint of your
plan - Point B.
Make
a plan to get there without major disruption in your life or the life of
your family and friends.
1. Evaluate and assess your
current skills, strengths and weaknesses - be brutal
2. Assess your current residence - is it sustainable in any of the
most probable events
3. How much do you currently rely on others
4. What is your current financial situation
5. How many people depend on you
6. How dependent are you on the "grid" (power, water, sanitation)
7. Do you have a place to go if urban areas become unlivable or
unsafe
8. How psychologically prepared are you
9. How much time can you devote to preparation
10. Will others assist you in preparations
The Advanced Area has more comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and other material you can use to further define your current state of readiness and your survival preparation needs
Just as you need to define your current situation, you must also realistically define how prepared you need to be to ensure continuation of your access to water, food, shelter, sanitation and security.
1. Describe conditions needed for any age or physical limits of group members
2. Describe your needed food storage capacity
3. Describe your water storage and purification needs
4. Describe needed skills
5. Describe sleeping, living, cooking conditions
6. Describe transportation needs - no you don't need a Hummer
7. Describe necessary sanitation capabilities - assume no utilities are available
8. Describe security methods
9. Describe how you would re-supply food and water stocks for a long term event.
10. Define and list non-food supplies you needSee the ADVANCED Area for Specific Plans
