Effective survival
planning makes you self-sufficient and self-reliant. You can choose to
either provide for yourself and group or be dependent on a government
agency to keep you alive. Past history shows that the "Calvary"
always arrives too late.
Your FIRST PLANNING STEP is having your neighbors, friends
and family working on THEIR survival preparations to prevent their
un-preparedness from negatively impacting you when disaster strikes.

Shelter & Safe Drinking Water
Water &
Shelter
are neck and neck for first place on the survival ladder. You can
live about 3 days without water before starting to become incapacitated. A bit
more if you are very fit and healthy. In a location with high or
low
temperatures, shelter may be the prime need for even a single day's survival.
Food & Nutrition
When it comes to
survival and food, you can live
about 15 to 20 days without food. You will, however, start to become
weak and disoriented after about 4 days. There is more to food than
simply volume. You must also have the proper nutrition to survive.
This includes fat, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals.
Survival Medical Needs
Your preparations must include being
able to handle
survival medical emergencies. In a crisis, you may not have
access to doctors and hospitals or they may be overwhelmed. If you have
a condition that requires medication to stay alive, your plan must
include how you will stock a sufficient supply before a crisis.
Survival Sanitation
The power is out, no running water, you live in the city or
suburbs, sub-zero weather and the roads are blocked. Where is your
toilet? How will you clean your hands? How will you stay clean?
Without preparation, you won't and your home will not be very pleasant after about
2 days
without any
survival sanitation facilities.
Financial Survival
Short of a full and fatal
national financial collapse, your money is
still safe in the bank, but can you get to it? In a wide-spread,
extended power outage, your debit and credit cards are useless since
merchants rely on electrical power for all transactions. In a
crisis CASH is king.
Make Your Own Plan
Everyone must make plans
and establish goals based on their own situation.
There is no
one-size-fits-all solution. The key is to be aware of the
challenges you will face if you have to become self-reliant for even
a short time. Create a plan that will see you and your family through
a tough period.
